Human precorneal tear film and lipid layer dynamics in meibomian gland dysfunction

This study evaluates the precorneal tear film (PCTF) and lipid layer (TFLL) thicknesses and thinning rates in meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) using a combined ultra-high-resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT) and thickness dependent fringe (TDF) interferometry system.

The Average RNFL thickness is 102.64 ± 9.56 μm in the Nepalese population. Gender and age related variation in the RNFL could serve as a useful guideline in the diagnosis of glaucoma in our population.

The RNFL thickness measurements with SD-OCT are lower in glaucomatous eyes as compared to age-matched GS and normal eyes in the Nepalese population.
